Great concert of David Sanborn – Newport Jazz Festival (1998).
His screeching personalized sound-voice notwithstanding , Sanborn demonstrates some true Jazz chops (although not to the level of jazz-purity as, let’s say, Michael Breaker (tenor sax) or altoists Kenny Garett , Vincent Herring, Donald Harrison, Jessie Davis…I guess he is perhaps the best Blues saxophonist out there. He’s got many Grammies for his ceaseless ‘sax’phonetics’, so to speak.
